Singlets

Every normal girl at BYU is afraid that she'll never get married. I don't care who you are, what your name is, how old you are, or how hard you try to deny it, if you are female and LDS then there is a part of you that fears ending up a old single cat lady. For you peeps . . . I want you to know . . . it will happen. And it will happen when you least expect it.

I think the moment I started making serious plans for my life, especially those that no longer depended on a boy, is the moment I met Dan and things just kind of fell into place. Exactly one year ago I seriously never thought I'd get married. I had just gotten home from a study abroad in Germany, moved into a new apartment with my best friend, and was basically a wreck. Hahahaha, I laugh now, but its true. Somewhere in that semester however I decided I didn't care about boys or dating, or getting married anymore. So I made some crazy big lifetime goals. I was going to go on a mission when I turned 21. Then graduate college, and do Teach for America for two years. Then I'd apply to law school and get a J.D. and start to work. I was going to be strong...and independent...and alone.

Hahahaha, but I guess my life was meant to go somewhere else, because that November I met Dan. And I haven't been on a date with a single other boy since. . . so trust me girls, it happens. And usually when you least expect it!!

But, being married is the best!! Seriously! Ha, I've gotten some questions from my single friends, asking if as a married person I promised to always say marriage is the best. PEOPLE....I'm not lying! It really is the absolute best. And I'd like to prove it to all of you doubting Tom's.

1. I can go to bed whenever I want. Once my homework is done....even if its only 8:30....the moment I get tired, I go to bed :) I don't have any pressure to stay up and be social!

2. I get to hang out with my best friend whenever I want. Dan and I come home from campus basically at the same time every day. And we spend our evenings doing homework, cooking dinner, and then watching TV.

3. No more awkward social gatherings. - I don't have to pretend to like certain people, and I don't have to talk to people when I actually have nothing to say to them.

4. Church is actually about church . . . not about looking cute to impress the boys.

5. I don't have to scout out the cute boys in my classes, and then try to sit by them.

6. I can talk to the guys I work with, or who are in my classes, and not feel like there are expectations.

7. I can cuddle with my favorite person just about anytime I want . . . :)

8. I have someone who thinks I'm fun and awesome and cute . . . and he likes to tell me so too.

9. I can have ugly days, and not be worried that I turned off some cute boy . . . because my cute boy loves me no matter what!!

10. I have someone who takes care of me when I'm sick. He'll cook me food, make trips to the store for medicine, and overall be amazing to help me feel better!!

See....being married is awesome! Just so you all know though, I also liked being single too. Single life and married life are so different, that you can't really compare the two. But, if you ever have the chance to switch from single to married . . . I highly recommend it!!!
