This past week was pretty busy for Dan and I. We had our normal school/work responsibilities, but there was also the Simpson Family Reunion. It was a blast! And by the end of the week we were exhausted! But we loved every moment. We'd go to work/school in the mornings and then in the afternoon we'd head to wherever the activities were.
On Monday afternoon there was a big family dinner up near Bountiful. (For those of you that don't know the Simpson family reunion includes Dan's cousins/Aunts/Uncles as well as his 2nd cousins and Great Aunts/Uncles - there were a lot of people!) It was really fun to reconnect with everyone. The kids all played at a splash pad while the adults visited.
Tuesday was my favorite day! After Dan finished with work we met the rest of the family up at Jordanelle Reservoir. They had rented a boat, and one of Dan's uncles had brought his jet skis. I loved driving the jet skis, definitely the best part of the day! We had lots of fun hanging out on the beach, swimming, and boating. Dan also went water skiing, and rocked it!
Wednesday the whole family went to Lagoon, but Dan and I didn't go. Instead we stayed in Provo and went to the movie 42 (thanks Dad Kolts!!). It is the story of Jackie Robinson, one of the first black MLB player. It was sooo good! I loved it, but I'm also a sucker for those cheesy feel-good sports shows. (The Blind Side is my favorite, Remember the Titan's is Dan's) I'd highly recommend the movie, and it will probably be added to our DVD library soon.
Thursday was the 4th of July! What a fun holiday to get to celebrate! We babysat Lexi and Seth in the morning so that Anna and Mike and the older girls could run a 1-mile fun run. Then we hung out with Dan's family all day. We had lunch at a picnic, went swimming in neighbor's pool, and enjoyed fireworks.
Friday was the last day of the reunion and we were able to attend the adult dinner. (wohoo for being an adult!! we are the only great-grandkids in the family that qualified) It was so much fun.
Family is such an awesome blessing, and I've enjoyed getting to know Dan's better. We didn't take a single picture :( Hopefully others took a lot of pictures - P.S. if anyone is reading this and could send me some pics, I'd appreciate it! But we had a blast!
What a great week!!! Thanks for watching my kiddos too!!
