Date night this week was a blast!! Dan and I found a Groupon like a month ago for a resort in Park City, and decided to get it. The resort looked wonderful, and the beginning of November was the perfect time to go on a mini-vacation to celebrate making it halfway through the semester! If you guys haven't ever heard of the Stein Eriksen Lodge, you need to at least browse the website!!!
We have been looking forward to this trip for quite some time now!! We packed up all of our stuff on Friday morning, and then left straight from school for the mountains!
So first off, we didn't realize quite how nice of a place we were staying at until we got there. I mean, we knew if was a 5 star resort, but since neither of us had ever been to a 5 star resort before, we didn't fully understand what that meant. Umm...peeps, this place was amazing!! We pulled up to the front door, and a group of men come up to grab our luggage and take our car to the parking garage for us. Yeah, we didn't see our car again until we left. One of the valet's stayed with us, and once we were given our room keys he took them for us, grabbed all of our luggage by himself, and then escorted us to our room. (We didn't actually have that much stuff. 2 backpacks, 2 small bags) He gave us a little tour of the resort. The place was huge! They have a year round outdoor swimming pool and hot tub, a spa, 2 restaurants, and countless buildings for rooms.
When we got to our room he even grabbed the little luggage carriers out of the closet for us and set them up. I have never in my life had such great service before!! Luckily, we remember to tip him right at the last minute. Dan and I were both a little out of our element - everything was so nice, everyone wanted to help us, and they had so many amenities!! Our room was amazing too! I loved the chalet feel the place had with large wooden beams running across the ceiling. We also had a private balcony that looked out across the mountain! So gorgeous. It was actually pretty chilly up in Park City. And there was a lot of snow around - it was so wintery and picturesque!

We were seriously at the top of a ski hill! It was gorgeous:
This was taken on our private balcony. Not a great picture of us, but the view was awesome!
The hot tub: - You know how most hot tubs have jets you can turn on? Yeah, this one you could turn on double water fountains!!
After we explored the lodge for awhile we went and found the concierge. We told her we were basically starving college students who found a cheap Groupon to come, but we couldn't afford the restaurant there, so if she had any suggestions. So guess what - the lodge has a free shuttle service down to main street Park City that we could take! And she gave us the name of an Italian restaurant that she thought we'd like. We took the shuttle down, and went to Vinto's. So...YUM!! It was so delicious. They wood fire their pizza and it was so delicious! We split a salad, got Italian sodas, and each got a pizza. Of course, we shared those too. My pizza had cheese, spicy sausage, tomatoes, caramelized onions, and red and yellow bell peppers. Dan's was similar, just with tri-tip instead of sausage. Needless to say, they were amazing!!
We then walked up Main Street. We stopped at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for some dessert! I got a carmel apple, Dan got a Bear Claw. They were yummy :) We then sat in the bookstore that is attached and talked and looked through books. It was so nice to relax and calm down after a long hard week and semester so far.
Here is Dan on a bridge. My camera sucks, but the bridge was cool, and Park City looked all Christmasy to me :)

In the morning we headed home around eleven. In Park City we stopped to take some pictures around the Olympic torch. The leaves were beautiful!! For those of you who don't know Stein Eriksen (the man our lodge was named after) is from Norway and was a gold medalist in the 1952 Olympics in Oslo.
This is me, pretending I'm an Olympic gold medalist (yeah..only in my dreams):
As is becoming tradition, when we passed through Heber we stopped at Dairy Keen for lunch. Every time we come here Dan wants to get a Train Wreck burger. Because we have been spoiling ourselves all weekend, we decided to get one. It was huge!! It has a chicken patty, hamburger patty, ham, bacon, onion rings, and who knows what else on it!!
Here is the comparison between my normal sized burger, and Dan's monster:
Yeah....it's as big as his face...

Once we reached the top of Main Street we called the shuttle to pick us up. (Yup, you can summon the shuttle anytime you want...and it actually comes for you!)

When we got back to the lodge we convinced one of the valet's to take a picture of us in front of this amazing fire place!
We then headed back up to our room because it was getting pretty late. Neither Dan nor I have ever stayed somewhere that had a turndown service. I honestly thought we had walked into the wrong room at first, and I got freaked out by it a little! Hahaha. They had come in and closed the blinds for us, turned on some beautiful instrumental music, left robes and slippers on the bed, and given us a tray with hot chocolate and water on it. It was so cool!! Haha, both of us were kind of in shock with how nice the lodge was!
I had to take a picture because we were both in shock! They even left little chocolates on the bed for us. And the slippers they gave us had cloth napkins under them - haha, we didn't even know what that was for!!
The lodge was an amazing and wonderful vacation for Dan and I! We both were pampered and spoiled with amazing service. And I was super sad to leave in the morning to check out. We probably won't be staying somewhere this nice . . . well probably ever again.

What a wonderful Friday/Saturday this has been!! Its been amazing to spend so much time with my husband :) You might think we have lots of time to spend together, but this semester has been crazy for both of us, so that time has been limited! As this Thanksgiving season begins, he is definitely the number one thing I am grateful for.
Looks fantastic!!! What a great time!!!
