1 Week of Baby Dani

I can’t believe this little girl has been in our lives for over a week now! She has brought such a special spirit into our home, and has been very healing for me personally. I was so scared of having more kids after Benjamin, but our little Dani May has eased so many of those fears! I think I will write more on that in a different post :)

The first week of Dani’s life was such a special time. She was born on a Wednesday, and I only stayed in the hospital 24 hours, so by Thursday evening we were able to return home. Dan took Wednesday-Friday off of work, and then we had a whole weekend to spend together.

Benjamin was a little unsure at first around Dani, but now he loves her to death. He always wants to hold her, help bounce and burp her, and play with her. It is the sweetest, cutest thing I have ever seen. I can not wait to watch their relationship really flourish and develop!

We had to go to the lab twice that first week for bilirubin checks, but after the second time baby girl was cleared with a clean bill of health.

Benjamin loved the Christmas decorations in the hospital lab! Watching his excitement for the holiday season has been so fun for me!! He can barely stand leaving all the presents under the tree alone!

Sunbathing to fight the bilirubin!

The Saturday after Dani was born, Dan’s family cane to visit. His mom has shingles, so unfortunately couldn’t come, but we so appreciate the rest of the family coming to visit!!

Dan and I attempted to take a few newborn pictures of this precious little girl.

My mom crocheted this cute Christmas hat for Dani. She is our special Christmas delivery!!

I definitely take a ton of pictures of this little girl and her cute big brother :) Its my favorite. And seriously, how cute are my kids!!

Benjamin loves trains!! He played the train game one day while I nursed!

Benjamin is learning all about anatomy with this new baby 😂

My mom was a miracle worker this week and drove down and helped me clean, cook, and take care of these cute kids! We had lots of fun talking and watching Christmas movies. I luckily have felt really good, so we were able to spend a lot of time together, rather than me being an invalid.

We celebrated my moms birthday the day she arrived! What a special lady!

Grandma brought Benjamin an early Christmas gift from her and my dad! He is in love with this horsey!! It is the cutest!!

1st week of Dani’s life was seriously wonderful!! I’ll include a few facts about her and her development:

- umbilical cord fell off on day 7. Both of my kids have lost their umbilical cords pretty early. I always thought they stayed on for two weeks.

- Dani is sleeping pretty well. She wakes twice at night, and it hasn’t been horrid yet. Usually two four hour chunks. Ten to two, and then 3 to 7. It could be so much worse, so I’ll take it!

- nursing is going well. But I don’t want to jinx anything. I remember saying the same thing when Benj was a week old, and it didn’t really turn out for me.

- Dani is the sweetest, yummiest baby around. I am in love with her. She is so cute and sweet.

I am so grateful for this experience so far. The transition this first week from 1 to 2 kids has been incredibly smooth compared to the transition from 0 to 1.
