Our Wisconsin adventure has finally started! Daniel and I have seriously been anticipating this trip since we got married. As an wedding gift Dan stuck a chunk of money into a dedicated savings account, and we have slowly been adding to it since we got married. It was created with the sole person to come out to Wisconsin this summer and spend some time with my family :) We can both barely believe our trip has finally begun.
This adventure officially began at 4 a.m. on Friday morning. My little sister had spent Thursday night at our apartment, so at 4 in the morning we woke up and hit the road. We were sleepy, but we were so excited!

Dan was amazing, and drove most of the way - probably a total of 20 hours or so. Mariah and I made up the other 3. One of the first stops we made, we decided to give our car a little makeover.

We gave the car some big beautiful cow-spots as an ode to Wisconsin's dairyland. The car became known as 'cowr'. It was lots of fun, and made us even more excited to drive.

The rest of the day was pretty much just spent out on the open road. We drove about 15 hours total on Friday, or about 1100 miles! Crazy trip. Amazingly awesome, but a crazy day! We did take a couple of other fun stops. In Sturgis, SD we stopped to get some pictures and fill up with gas. Sturgis is a fun city known for the motorcycle rally they have there each year.
We made it all the way to Sioux Falls the first night of traveling. It was around 10 when we finally stopped for the night, so not too late. We found a nice hotel, and then booked it over to Perkins for some late night food. We were all ravenous after having not eaten for about 8 hours. We went to bed feeling great, having made really good time and gone well over half way.
SD definitely was beautiful, and it was fun driving across the whole state! Here is my favorite thing in the entire state:
| Fields of Sunflowers! |
Sunflowers are my favorite flowers, so how fun to have an entire state covered by them! Day 1 of driving, definitely a success!! For the most part we still liked each other and were ready to continue on!
Wisconsin travels cont. soon....
