Saturday was another fun day in the McGuire household! First off, Dan was total beast and woke up at 5:30 am so that he could be to work at 6. The poor kid, we've been so busy this week, he already works a part time job on campus, and he has decided to work a second part-time job to get a few more hours. He is my hero! He went to work for another 6 hours on Saturday, and got done at noon. I started getting a cold the last couple days of the week, so I had only been awake for a couple of hours, and still in my PJs by the time Dan returned. Like I said, He is my hero!!
Once Dan got home we cleaned up then headed to SLC. They were having a Brazilian Festival there. For those of you who don't know Daniel served a 2 year mission in Brazil and he absolutely fell in love with the people and culture! It was fun to go and experience some of the things that he is always talking about!
This is a picture of me with a churro that is filled with a carmel-y deliciousness! It was really yummy!
Then this is a picture of Dan with a Coxinha. (I just had to get him to spell that like 5 times :) It is basically shredded chicken and herbs with a thick breading around it and deep fried. It was pretty delicious too!!

We also watched some Brazilian dancers, Capoeira fighters, and saw a huge tarantula (there was an animal show). One of Dan's friends showed up towards the end and we hung out for a bit too. It was a fun atmosphere, and we were glad we had some time to go!
Then after the Brazilian Festival Dan and I got our nerd on. Comic Con was just down the street from the festival, and Dan and I had never been. We walked past the convention center it was being held at on our way back to the car, so we decided we had to stop!
So, to be completely honest, I'm totally a geeky nerd at heart. I love Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and the Wheel of Time Series. I have played Magic the Gathering, and enjoyed it too! Fantasy and Sci-Fi have always been my favorite types of books to read! So I was probably a little too excited to go to Comic Con. We saw some pretty cool stuff!! We ended up not staying very long, because the crowd was ridiculous, but we still had a fun time!!
They had this cage with Chewbacca and Princess Leia that you could stand in and take pictures if you had donated money. Dan and I are poor, so we just took picture a from afar.

Comic Con was a blast! We almost bought a poster to continue our movie wall, but the line was like 5 miles long. We decided we'll just have to get one some other day!
After Comic Con we drove up to Dan's home and spent some time with his family. It had been Dan's mom's birthday a few days earlier so we had a nice family dinner and gave her a present (cheese from WI). Dan also had the opportunity to watch the BYU football game, which he was elated about! BYU won 40-21 against Texas, so it was a great game to watch!! Overall, a great Saturday!
