Dan and I are actually in the middle of date night still :) We are sitting side by side in our little one bedroom apartment, watching Stars Wars: A New Hope on a TV that doesn't get cable or any tv channels at all. We are sitting on hand-me down couches, but we couldn't be happier. Despite the fact that we don't have a lot of material things, we sure feel blessed to have each other.
Date night today was packed full of fun!! Our first stop, Olive Garden. Our original plan for tonight was pizza and a movie. But, I have the most amazing husband in the world. He knew I wasn't really too stoked to go see another movie, so he surprised me with a new set of plans! He planned the whole evening around me, knowing what I would like! Olive Garden is my favorite restaurant so we went out to eat there!

Our favorite thing to do at Olive Garden is split a meal. We both still get salad and breadsticks, but it's half the price! Since I can never finish all my food anyways when we go, this works perfect for us!!
After dinner we went over to the Riverwoods, where they were having the Chalk the Block festival. Unfortunately it had rained pretty hard for a good hour and a half during the day, so a lot of the artists weren't there tonight. A lot of it had gotten rained off the ground as well. There was still some pretty amazing art though! I love chalk art! It seems like such a simple thing, I mean who doesn't play with chalk when they are little! But what they can do with something as simple as chalk, is amazing!!

Then we headed home. We put on Star Wars - which if you remember previous posts we both love. We're nerdy that way :)
Then we got our craft on :) Dan had this great idea to make some fun halloween decorations! We had stopped at Michael's on the way home from Chalk the Block to pick up some supplies. We already had mason jars, so we just bought paint and brushes.

Then we painted the jars to look like halloween characters. We painted the inside of the jars the main color, than on the outside we painted the faces. It was lots of fun, and they turned out great! Our plan is to put them on our windowsill and put a strand of Christmas lights in them so they glow. We think they are adorable!!

It was a great Friday evening! I'm sure lucky to have so many blessings in my life, even though they don't always come in the form of material goods. I still have everything I could ever need. I'm so lucky to have Dan by my side!
